On December 12, 2022, Dr. Mike Roth indicated his intent to retire from Leavenworth USD 453, effective January 1, 2024. The Leavenworth Board of Education is actively seeking a highly qualified individual to join the district with a start date of July 1, 2023, and prepare accordingly to assume the role of Superintendent of Schools following Dr. Roth’s departure.

In late January, district stakeholders will have the opportunity to be surveyed and provide input to help define desired characteristics and attributes of the Superintendent position. This information will be shared with potential applicants.

A summary of stakeholder input and survey data will be presented to the Board of Education at a Special Meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, February 1, at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will be open to the public.

The Board of Education will meet in Executive Session on Wednesday, February 22, at 6:00 p.m., to review applications and develop a list of finalists to be formally interviewed for the Superintendent position. This meeting will be a closed session.

Final interviews are tentatively scheduled to take place between February 27 and March 2. Finalists’ names and personal biographies will be shared immediately in advance of their interview and district visits.
