Swim, Track athletes earn State Champion, additional medals
Congratulations to LHS athletes Elisabeth Howell and Kelsie Kudzia who earned the title of State Champion this spring!
Elisabeth became the first KSHSAA Swimming State Champion from Leavenworth High School! In winning the 100 Free she broke the school record twice - once in the prelims and again in the finals with a time of 51.82 - her fastest time ever. She was named All-State First Team.
Kelsie Kudzia won the 800M event at the KSHSAA State Track Meet with a time of 2:14.26!
Both the swim and track teams had multiple medalists at State.
Elisabeth also brought home a school record and medal in the 50 Free where she earned third.
During prelims on Day 1, Leavenworth swimmers - Addison Allen, Ella Dall, Elisabeth Howell, and Alexandrea Howell - earned a top 8 position in all but one event in which they competed.
In addition to Elisabeth’s medals, Alexandrea Howell came in 5th in the 500 Free and the relay teams came in 5th (200 Medley) and 7th (400 Free).
Leavenworth came in 9th overall out of 52 total teams, 37 of which scored points. That’s an incredible accomplishment with just four swimmers!

5th place - Kelsie Kudzia - Girls 3200M
5th place - Rafael Ramos - Boys 400M Dash
6th place (tie) - Noah Flanders - Boys High Jump
6th place - Jake Dillon, Kaden Weldon, Keshaun King, Jacob Gooch - Boys 4x400M relay
8th place - Keeshaun King - Boys High Jump
8th place - Zoei Cannon-Shelley, Ty'oni Woods, Ma'Kenna McCann, Deja'Naye Moody - Girls 4x100M Relay
8th place - Sokawenaam Bagosbah - Girls Shot Put
