The Leavenworth School District has a seven-member Board of Education. The Leavenworth community elects school board members. Board members must be registered to vote in the district. School board members serve four-year staggered terms. School board elections are in November during election years.
The Board encourages all complaints regarding the district to be resolved at the lowest administrative level possible. Whenever a complaint is made directly to the Board as a whole, or to a Board member as an individual, it will be referred to the administration for study and possible resolution.
Monthly board meetings include time on the agenda for "Scheduled Patron Input" (if received by close of business on Friday prior to a Monday evening meeting, by calling 913-684-1400 or email to contactus@lvpioneers.org) prior to board action, or at the end of the meeting agenda during "Unscheduled Patron Input" (by indicating interest to speak at the sign-in table on-site).
This is not an appropriate time or place to make comments of a personal nature or about any individual district employee or student. Speakers are given 3 minutes to state their name, address, and reason for addressing the board.
