Leavenworth USD #453 is currently recruiting Substitute Teachers, and will be recruiting throughout the school year as we believe they are a vital part of our education team. Substitute Teacher Work Day
Schools have various starting times and substitutes are required to be in the building at least 25 minutes prior to the start of school and remain approximately 25 minutes after school is dismissed. In general, a full day is defined as working from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the elementary level, and 7:25 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. at the secondary level, including a duty free 30-minute lunch. Arriving approximately 25 minutes before students at the beginning of the instructional day will allow substitute teachers to familiarize themselves with lesson plans and other duties, assignments, and events for the day.

How often you work depends on your willingness to work in a variety of classroom settings and school buildings. If you are flexible with the types of assignments and number of schools you are willing to go to, you could work most days that the schools are in session.
