Salary and Benefits

Employee Total Rewards

At USD 453, we provide many rewards that are designed to benefit our mission-driven employees. They include compensation and salary, employee benefits, employee recognition, and employee wellness, just to name a few.

We offer competitive compensation to attract, hire, and retain top-performing talent. As a school district, we have separate pockets of employees who are paid according to differing schedules:

  • Certified teaching staff salary rates are negotiated through a collective bargaining process as part of our Teacher’s Negotiated Agreement. Staff is paid on a monthly basis.
  • Classified staff are paid in accordance with the nature of their role and our approved salary rates on a bi-weekly basis
  • Administrators are paid in accordance with the nature of their role and our approved salary rates on a monthly basis.

We provide an attractive selection of offerings to meet your individual or family needs. You and your family’s health is so important to us that we commit to paying a portion of your monthly medical premiums to ensure we keep your costs as affordable as possible. Some benefit offerings include medical insurance, dental coverage, vision coverage, elective benefits like dependent care of flex spending accounts, additional life insurance, and more! Our Benefits Guide provides in-depth information about each offering and the associated costs.

Employees have an opportunity to assess their benefits needs annually and make changes as needed during our open enrollment period in August for coverage which begins in October.

  • Set work schedules for the year, which often align with their own children’s school schedules.
  • Annual allowances for paid time off, giving them the time they need to attend to personal business and/or to care for themselves or their family in the event of illness.
  • Ample time off from work during most major holidays
  • Extended time off during traditional school year breaks, such as winter and summer breaks.
  • Opportunities for personal development through Mindfulness and Self Care training sessions.
