Parents as Teachers

      Mission

      • To provide the information, support, and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life.

Parents are their child's first and most influential teachers. Parents as Teachers is a child development program, sponsored by our local school district at no charge to families living within the district's boundaries. Services include:

        • Personal visits
        • Group connections
        • Playgroups
        • Screenings
        • Links with other community resources

Services are facilitated by certified parent educators with specialized training in working with families who have infants and toddlers. Program participation is voluntary. As funding is available, services may extend to kindergarten age. We are pleased to be recognized by the Parents as Teachers National Center as a "Program of Excellence" following our assessment in program quality performance standards.

Leavenworth Parents as Teachers is an international affiliate of Parents as Teachers National Center, St. Louis, Mo. Our program also serves Fort Leavenworth USD207.
