Schools Make Standard of Excellence
Several Leavenworth schools just received word that they reached the State Standard of Excellence for 2008! Standard of Excellence is tied to the Kansas State Assessment process and is defined by a very specific set of criteria for student achievement. The following schools made the Standard of Excellence:
Reading:
Anthony Elementary School – Building Wide
Muncie Elementary School – 3rd Grade
Leavenworth Virtual School – Building Wide
Howard Wilson Elementary School –5th Grade
Math:
Howard Wilson Elementary School – 3rd Grade
The Standard of Excellence Award is based on the following:

Exemplary in reading means:
When your child is reading grade level-material to himself/herself (e.g., a story, a book, a novel or a how-to- guide) he/she understands the material completely and is able to relate it to other materials.
Exemplary in math means:
When your child is working on grade level mathematical tasks he/she always performs consistently and accurately and effectively uses multiple problem solving strategies.
