About Me
My Background

I possess an Associates of Arts Degree in General Studies from American Public University and I am currently working on completing my Bachelor of Science. I hold a JROTC Instructor Certification from the United States Army Cadet Command.

I teach LET II (sophomore) JROTC classes and coach the Honor Guard with Weapons and the Raiders. I also manage and control all Army owned property and Army funds. LET II curriculum encompasses First Aid and Wellness, World Geography and map reading, and American Government and Civics.

A native Texan, I enlisted in the US Army at the age of 21 as an M1A1 Armor Crewman. I spent half of my 20 year military career stationed in Germany and the other half in the United States. I have been deployed numerous times all over the world in combat and peace keeping operations. I have served in varying positions and assignments from Tank Platoon Sergeant to Tank Commander to Recruiter to US Army Europe's Expeditionary Training NCOIC for Romania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Kosovo. I also have formal Army training and experience in Army logistics.

Military Awards & Decorations that I have earned;

Draper Armor Leadership Award
Meritorious Service Medal, 1 oak leaf cluster
Army Commendation Medal, 3 oak leaf clusters
Army Achievement Medal, 8 oak leaf clusters
Army Good Conduct Medal with 6 knots
National Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star
Global War on Terrorism Service Medal

My Interests and Activities

Aside from the JROTC program I spend my time with my family. My wonderful wife takes care of the five boys we have at home. Two of them are infant twins, so she stays much busier than I do.

I love to bicycle, hike, and anything outdoors. Golfing is my most enjoyable interest, but I am horrible at it. I think that is why I like it so much - it presents the biggest challenge. I have recently discovered a new hobby, R/C (remote or radio controlled) flying - helicopters and airplanes. An expensive hobby to get serious about so for now I will be happy to stay a novice hobbyist.

I truly feel that I have the best job that a Soldier can have after retirement; I love getting up in the morning and going to work. I feel extremely honored and privileged to be entrusted by parents, LHS Administration, and the US Army to assist in educating our youth and motivating them to be better citizens.
