Facilities Improvement/Construction Update

The planning for construction/renovation is in full swing!  Great collaboration is underway between the school district, architects, the city of Leavenworth, and JE Dunn, the construction manager.  A snapshot of where we are in the planning:

*We are in the final design phase for all of the projects.  The architects and construction manager are moving toward finalizing the costs and preparing to go out for bid.

*The survey team has completed the land surveys for the Activities Center at Leavenworth High School.  Additionally, the geotechnical company in in the final stages of gathering core samples.

*Neighborhood meetings are being planned for each school site that will be impacted by the Facilities Improvement Plan.  Information regarding the time line, traffic, extra noise during construction will be discussed.

*The District recently sold $10 million in bonds.  It served the community well to break the sale of bonds into segments based on need and the ability to capture a great interest rate.

*The Board of Education accepted a "One-Year Transition Plan" for students and staff during the construction/renovation at its December 17, 2008 meeting.  Click here to learn more about the "One-Year Transition Plan"

Though the community cannot see the work being done right now, know that the process is underway and much will happen soon.  Look for information regarding project ground breakings to be scheduled for late March.
