The foundation was formed as a way of supporting educational efforts in the Leavenworth community that might not otherwise become a reality. It is a non-profit charitable foundation supported by individuals, organizations, and local business persons who seek to expand the learning opportunities within their community and is also supported administratively by the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation and Affiliated Trusts. The foundation is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit.

Make Donations to the Autism Fund

The Foundation's Autism Fund is in honor of the twin grandsons of June and Chris Meyer, Jonah and Jacob, who have autism. Autism is a complex development disability that typically appears during the first 3 yesrs of life and affects a person's ability to communicate and interact with others. It is the fastest-growing developmental disablility with a 1,148% growth rate. One percent of the population of children in the U.S. ages 3-17 have an autism disorder, about 1 in 110 births.
