Leavenworth Public Schools Education Foundation Annual Breakfast

The Leavenworth Public Schools Education Foundation's 13th Annual Foundation Breakfast will proceed as originally scheduled. The event takes place on Tuesday, March 4, in the Leavenworth High School Gymnasium and begins at 7:00 a.m

The keynote speaker is Mr. Jeff Baxter, LHS English Arts Teacher / 2014 Kansas Teacher of the Year.

Attendees should park in the north and west lots, and enter through the north and west doors to the gym.

Resolution to Pursue Dissolution of the Leavenworth County Special Education Cooperative

During a Special Meeting of the Leavenworth Board of Education on Wednesday, February 27, 2014, a resolution was passed expressing USD 453’s intent to pursue dissolution of the Leavenworth County Special Education Cooperative. Each of the other participating districts in the Cooperative (Easton, Fort Leavenworth, Lansing, Basehor-Linwood, and Tonganoxie) has passed similar resolutions. Dissolution of the Cooperative must still receive approval from the State Board of Education. If approved by the State Board of Education, each school district belonging to the COOP will be responsible for managing its own special education programming, beginning July 1, 2014.

Finance Committee Survey

The Leavenworth Board of Education has established a Finance Committee in order to address an anticipated financial shortfall for the 2014-2015 school year. The Leavenworth School District is facing anticipated budget reductions of $1,361,000 for the 2014-2015 school year, which includes projected impacts of the Affordable Care Act. The committee consists of representatives of the Board of Education, and USD 453 staff members from across the district representing both certified and classified perspectives.
