After careful consideration, the Leavenworth School District has decided there will be No School for Students OR Staff Tomorrow (Tuesday, November 3). In light of the Kansas City Royals’ historic World Series win last night, we are anticipating a high number of staff and student absences likely to occur on Tuesday, due to large numbers planning to attend the city-wide parade and celebratory festivities.
While we had initially planned for a business-as-usual school day, it has become increasingly apparent that we will not have adequate substitute teachers to cover classes and provide necessary instruction and supervision of students in our schools. Please take this time to celebrate the Royals’ World Championship win with your family, and appreciate what is possible due to hard work, persistence, teamwork, and a positive winning attitude.

Nominees will advance to the KSDE Horizon Award competition. Horizon Awards recognize outstanding teachers who have recently completed their first year of teaching. Congratulations to Madison Stallbaumer, second grade teacher at Henry Leavenworth Elementary, and Callene Farrell, social studies teacher at Leavenworth High School!
The Pioneer football team will kick off its season with a road game against Great Bend. This year, we are grateful to have a local radio partner that will be broadcasting home and away games.
