As a new way to inform and connect with our school community, both locally and around the globe, the district has launched a podcast series “See Me After Class 453.” Podcasts (i.e. audio broadcasts for internet enabled computers and smart phones) are becoming an increasingly popular format for individuals to listen to recorded content covering any number of topic areas, and Leavenworth USD 453 is using this format to feature some of the great things going on with our students, staff, and graduates.
We look forward to welcoming all our Pioneer students back for the 2017-2018 School Year. Click here for key dates to start the school year.
During its regular meeting on Wednesday, July 19, the Leavenworth Board of Education voted in favor of adding 10 minutes of instructional time to the school day at all grade levels. Beginning this year, classes at Leavenworth High School and Warren Middle School will begin at 7:50 a.m. and release at 3:00 p.m. Elementary students will begin at 8:10 a.m. and release at 3:20 p.m.
Our school has agreed to join five other schools to form a new KSHSAA league for athletics and activities, beginning August 2018. The new, yet to be named, league includes: Basehor-Linwood High School; De Soto High School; Lansing High School; Leavenworth High School; Shawnee Heights High School; and Turner High School.
We are actively taking suggestions for what the new league should be named throughout the month of July. Student representatives from each of the six schools will meet in early August to review the names suggested and provide a final list of recommendations for consideration and approval by the schools' Athletics/Activities Directors & Principals.
You can learn more and share your ideas by clicking "Help Us Name The New League" above no later than Monday, July 31.
